Like the Siberian Husky, the Alaskan Malamute needs a firm leader and isn't the ideal dog of choice for a first-time owner, unless you're really willing to put the work in. They are not well-suited to apartment life, and they are certainly high-shedding pooches who need plenty of grooming to keep their coats healthy. Expect to clean up dog hair all year long, and especially during shedding season. Alaskan Malamutes are high-energy dogs, and therefore require vigorous exercise.
Are Malamutes hard to potty train?
The only real hard part is that Malamutes tend to be quite stubborn--it's not that they can't learn to go potty outside, it's more like, "Hey human, I will learn to go potty only when I am good and ready!" Be patient and keep working with your pup until he finally does what you are asking of him.
