Can parvo live in yard?

Parvo can stay in the yard for up to a year without living in a host so I do not recommend bringing in any new puppies that aren't fully vaccinated (boosters every 3 weeks until they are ~15-16 weeks old) into your yard.

Can my unvaccinated puppy go in my backyard?

Young puppies don't have fully developed immune systems, and thus are especially susceptible to illnesses. That's why it's important to never put your puppy on the ground in an unknown environment unless they've had all their vaccinations.

Can I let my puppy play in my backyard?

If you're wondering when can puppies go outside away from home, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) recommends that pet guardians begin taking puppies on walks and public outings as early as one week after their first round of vaccinations, at about seven weeks old.

How long does parvo live in the yard?

Extremely resilient, parvovirus can survive in the environment for up to nine years, including the ground and soil. It can also withstand most household cleaning products (bleach is an exception), heat, cold and humidity, all of which makes the spread of the virus is hard to control.
