Are bananas processed?
Few bananas produced undergo industrial processing. Plantain and unripe banana are consumed cooked, whereas, mature dessert banana is eaten raw. Characterising bananas, their processed products and processed consumption forms, is a key precondition for objective communication on these foodstuffs.
Is a banana considered a fresh fruit?
The yellow thing you peel and eat is, in fact, a fruit because it contains the seeds of the plant. Although since bananas have been commercially grown, the plants are sterile, and the seeds have gradually been reduced to little specs.
Are bananas artificially made?
- Bananas: Believe it or not, bananas are man made. The yellow delight that goes back around 10,000 years was was apparently a blend of the wild Musa acuminata and Musa balbisiana species of banana. You can try either of them and you'll find a rather foul taste.
Are the bananas we eat natural?
Edible bananas are the result of a genetic accident in nature that created the seedless fruit we enjoy today. Virtually all the bananas sold across the Western world belong to the so-called Cavendish subgroup of the species and are genetically nearly identical.
