Contrary to what people usually think, Greyhounds and Lurchers are often couch potatoes and need very little exercise. They like nothing more than to cosy up on a comfy bed and snooze in a warm home, being quite lazy at heart.
Are Lurchers lazy?
Contrary to popular opinion, they don't need excessive exercise at all and, in fact, they tend to be a little on the lazy side. Most love a short burst around the park before heading home to lie on their owner's lap or a comfy duvet and have a snooze.
Do Lurchers sleep a lot?
These noble hounds are actually couch potatoes who may sleep for as much as 16 to 18 hours a day on comfy bed or sofa, often with their legs stuck out at the most peculiar angles.
Are Lurchers good house dogs?
Nowadays, Lurchers are becoming very popular as they make exceptional family dogs. They are generally good with children, gentle, loving, very affectionate and loyal. We always have lots of lovely lurchers looking for homes.
How energetic are Lurchers?
For the most energetic Lurchers, we're talking about upwards of 1-hour exercise a day and longer at times. For this reason, they are best at home on larger plots of land. That said, some Lurchers will have less appetite for exercise – it just depends on the breeding.
