With early socialization and training, your Malamute should get along well with other dogs. He may chase small animals such as cats unless brought up with them and taught not to. It's vital to properly introduce them to other animals in the household and supervise their interactions.
Can Malamute live with other dogs?
Well socialised Malamutes will usually be fine around other dogs. Malamutes have a very strong prey drive so you need to be careful with them around smaller animals. While they will tolerate other pets if well-socialised at an early age, we don't advise leaving them alone with smaller pets.
Are Alaskan malamutes aggressive towards other dogs?
Animal Aggression Many Malamutes are so aggressive with a canine companion that you can't house him with another dog of the same sex. Some won't put up with the opposite gender either. They are often best suited to an only-dog household to prevent dangerous fighting.

If your efforts at obedience training have been very successful, there is a chance that you may be able to trust your Mal off leash in secluded areas. Such dogs are the exception, though, and you should count on having to keep your Malamute safely under control at all times. Malamutes do not make good guard dogs.
