Whippets are susceptible to bacterial and viral infections—the same ones that all dogs can get—such as parvo, rabies, and distemper. Many of these infections are preventable through vaccination, which we will recommend based on the diseases we see in our area, herage, and other factors.
What health problems do Whippets cause?
Behavioural issues may arise if the Whippet isn't given enough quality time with humans or is under-exercised. Separation anxiety can occur in the breed if left unattended for extended periods of time. Because Whippets can be startled easily, children should be taught to approach one with care and respect.

The AKC Standard says the Whippet is "amiable, friendly, gentle, but capable of great intensity during sporting pursuits." ... Whippet puppies can be mischievous and destructive, but adults are calm, undemanding, and unobtrusive indoors, trotting around with a light-footed easy grace and seldom making a peep.
