At what age is deworming done?
Never force a child to take deworming and do not give it to a child who is crying. Give to children 1 year up to 5 years (12-59 months) of age. It is safe and effective to give deworming in combination with vitamin A every 4-6 months.
What are the signs of worms in a child?
The most common signs of a pinworm infection are itching around the anus and restless sleep. The itching is usually worse at night because the worms move to the area around the anus to lay their eggs. In girls, pinworm infection can spread to the vagina and cause a vaginal discharge.
When is the best time to deworm?
Adults should take a deworming treatment as soon as their little one shows any symptoms (which can include irritability, tiredness, loss of appetite and an itchy bottom, among others). Follow-ups in two to four weeks are also highly recommended if signs and symptoms of an infection are still present.
