Since the invention of canned and refrigerated wet foods, however, some people have become concerned about the nutritional properties of dry food. Can a puppy just eat dry food?

Usually 8 weeks. At this point, puppies should have developed a full set of teeth and be able to eat dry food without any additional liquid. As ever, it's important to reiterate that no two dogs are the same. If you're nine weeks into your puppy's transition to dry food, and they're still on mush, don't panic.

Is it OK to feed a dog only dry food?

The optimum diet for most pets will be a combination of wet and dry foods. That said, so long as your dog drinks enough water, a solely dry food diet is fine.

What happens if I give my puppy dry food?

Puppies need a finely-tuned balance, which many adult dog foods don't necessarily provide. If you do choose to feed your pup adult dog food, then that's okay. Adult food won't necessarily make your puppy seriously ill - it's dog food after all. They may, however, experience an upset stomach here and there.
