Malamutes don't relish being left alone, and will become destructive if you leave them for half a day or a full day. They can be alone for a few hours as long as they are well exercised beforehand.

Alaskan Malamute's are prone to separation anxiety and tend to display associated howling and chewing behaviour. They need constant mental and physical stimulation.
