Why should you not only eat beans?

Are all beans considered vegetables?

Many people consider beans and peas as vegetarian alternatives for meat. However, they are also considered part of the Vegetable Group because they are excellent sources of dietary fiber and nutrients such as folate and potassium.

Are beans vegetables or protein?

Beans are one of the most protein-rich foods out there and among the best non-meat sources for protein. Because they are so high in protein, many times beans don't slot in as either a fruit or a vegetable and actually go alongside meat, eggs, fish, and nuts in the protein food group.

Do green beans count as greens?

Green peas and green (string) beans are not counted in the beans, peas, and lentils vegetable subgroup because the nutrient content of these vegetables is more similar to vegetables in other subgroups. Green peas, which are not dried before consumption, are grouped with starchy vegetables.
