Can dogs drink fresh squeezed juice?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

While dogs can safely drink most juices, it is generally not recommended for their health. Freshly squeezed juice isn't that detrimental for dogs and can provide some needed vitamins and nutrients. However, most store-bought juices from concentrate are rather terrible for canines.

Is freshly squeezed orange juice good for dogs?

Not at all. “We do not recommend this. The juice–even if it is natural–is a concentrated source of the sugars and citric acid from the fruit,” says Dempsey. Since dogs don't need the vitamins in oranges, orange juice doesn't help them.

Can dogs have fresh squeezed apple juice?

The only thing your dog needs to drink is clean, filtered water. While apples are one of the healthier fruits you can share with your dog, apple juice is another matter. Most brands of apple juice you'll find at the store contain added sugars, which are not healthy for dogs and can cause diarrhea.

What juices can I give my dog?

Dogs can drink fresh fruit juice in small quantities including apple juice and orange juice. Any fruit juice for a dog should be free of added sugar, artificial colors, or other ingredients. It would be a much better idea to give your dog a piece of fresh apple than to risk a juice that isn't really just juice.

Can dogs drink 100% juice?

Juice. Most juices contain added sweeteners and artificial flavors and coloring, which aren't healthy for dogs. Most whole juices are safe in small quantities — for example, letting your dog lick the plate after you cut oranges. Talk with your vet about which whole juices would be safe for your dog in small quantities.
