Dogs, like wolves are designed to take on lots of food at once and then fast for a period of time. Some dogs do better eating once per day, we often reccommend once a day feeding for dogs that experience grumbly tummies, bile vomiting and other digestive issues.
How many times a day should a dog eat raw meat?
Feed approximately 2-3% of your dog's weight daily and split this between two meals. For example, a 50 pound dog would need ½ to ¾ of a pound raw dog food per meal. Very active or working dogs may need more and less active "couch-potato" dogs may need less.
Can I feed raw once a day?
Absolutely. In fact, once a day feeding is a great way to mimic nature. In the wild, wolves eat only when they can catch food. Wolves and other wild dogs aren't eating 3 times per day, or even 2 times per day.
Can I occasionally give my dog raw meat?
As mentioned above, raw meat and bones carry bacteria that can make both animals and humans ill and so are not recommended.
How often should I give my dog raw food?
Most commonly, people feed adult dogs twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Observe your pet closely and adjust food quantity as needed.
