The Pet Poo Converter is a worm farm but instead of feeding the worms vegetable scraps, they are fed dog droppings. The worms convert the dog droppings into worm castings (worm poo) and a liquid fertilizer, both of which can safely be used on the garden.
Can dog poo go in worm farm?
Yes worms do eat dog poo and cat poo and kitty litter as long as it is a paper or timber based product. Recent research by us and a Vet in the USA has shown that modern animal worm medications do not harm compost worms. Therefore recently wormed animal poo is safe to use in your worm farm as a worm food.
Is dog poop good for worms?
Dog poo doesn't go into the regular worm farm; it needs to go in a separate one. There are a couple of reasons for this. One, if worms have the choice between dog poo and banana peels and avocado, they are not going to be choosing eating dog poo.
What should you not put in a worm farm?
Items you cannot compost in a worm bin: Lemon, lime, orange or other citrus peels and juice (in excess this will make the soil too acidic) Onions and garlic (a good rule of thumb is if it makes you smell, it makes your worm bin smell) Meat, fats, grease, bones or oils (no butter, lard, stocks, soups, etc)
Are earthworms attracted to dog poop?
If you see maggots (fly larvae), earthworms, or red worms (red wrigglers) in your dog's poop, it's likely because those creatures are highly attracted to and feed on the feces. So they likely showed up quickly after your dog's bowel movement (rather than being included when it exited his body).
