Can you use Heartgard and Nexgard together?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

In short, as long as your dog is above the age and weight requirements listed in the above “Breakdown” section, they can take Heartgard and Nexgard together. Most vets encourage their patients to use both drugs because neither medication protects against all insects or parasites by itself.

Is it okay to give Heartgard and NexGard at the same time?

One of the new products we recommend is NexGard, from the makers of Frontline. It is a once a month, ORAL, flea and tick prevention for dogs. No more sticky, smelly topicalls. It can be given at the same time as their monthly Heartgard- ONCE-a- MONTH!

Which is better NexGard or Heartgard?

Heartgard is known for preventing heart worms. Your pet should be checked for heart-worms prior to taking Heartgard. Nexgard is the only FDA approved option for preventing infections that cause Lyme disease. Unlike Heartgard, Nexgard has not yet been evaluated for use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs.

Can you buy Heartgard and NexGard online?

Once your dog has a negative heartworm test and prescription from your vet, you can purchase HEARTGARD Plus in clinic or through their online store.

Does NexGard cover heartworm?

When it comes to protecting your dog from heartworm, prevention is better than cure. To protect against heartworm, as well as fleas, ticks, mites and intestinal worms, we recommend NexGard SPECTRA®. For a combination dewormer that protects against heartworm, hookworm and roundworm, we suggest using HeartGard30® PLUS.
