Contrary to popular belief, rotating between dewormers will not prevent resistance from worsening, and is no longer recommended. Rather, dewormers should be used together at the same time in combination.
Can you mix dewormers?
In the USA, the different groups of dewormers available on the market are not chemically compatible, thus they CANNOT be mixed together in the same syringe. Rather, they need to be administered separately, but can be given one immediately after the other.
What happens if you take too much dewormer?
In proper doses, this is a very safe and effective medication. However, when significantly overdosed, this medication can cause drooling, vomiting, weakness, heart arrhythmia's, and severe neurologic signs such as ataxia, seizures, blindness and potentially death.
How long should you wait between deworming?
These guidelines recommend that if regular deworming is used, animals should be treated at least 4 times a year, with no more than 3 months between each treatment. This is based on some research indicating that dropping treatment to 3-4 times per year had no effect on parasite levels.
Can you give Pyrantel and panacur at the same time?
As you can see, Panacur and Pyrantel have overlapping coverage; both cover roundworms and hookworms.
