Does Afghan Hound shed hair?

Afghan hounds are a low shedding breed. They've only got one coat, as oppose to other breeds which have both a topcoat and an undercoat. As a result, they don't shed as heavily as other breeds. Their coat is more like human hair because it's in a constant state of growth and needs regular trimming much like we do.

Well covered with thick, silky hair, very fine in texture, the Afghan Hound's coat is a sort found among animals native to high altitudes. Do Afghans have double coats?

Adult Afghans only need to be brushed three times a week and bathed up to twice a week for show dogs, and every two weeks for family pets. The breed has a dual coat of a thicker undercoat and a silky overcoat.
