Some greyhounds become very reliant on human company to feel safe and will panic if their owners are not with them – this is called separation anxiety. Before leaving your greyhound at home alone, you should teach them that spending time alone in a safe place is both enjoyable and temporary.
Do greyhounds get on with other dogs?
Most greyhounds get on well with other dogs and many live with other breeds. Common sense and careful introductions are the key. If you have another dog, speak to our volunteers who will usually recommend that you bring them down to the kennels to help pick their new greyhound friend.
Do greyhounds have a favorite person?
In addition, some dog breeds are more likely to bond with a single person, making it more likely that their favorite person will be their only person. Breeds that tend to bond strongly to one person include: Basenji. Greyhound.
Can a greyhound be an only dog?
Most do fine after they are introduced and they are successfully adopted into homes with other breeds. Some Greyhounds are not good with other breeds, especially if they are small dogs, they are furry, etc. These Greyhounds would need to be in a Greyhound-only home or be the only dog.
