Can I keep worms as pets?
Composting worms make great pets because they are no trouble at all. Stocking a worm farm costs less than $50, but pays off in unlimited free compost for your garden. While worms are not fluffy or affectionate, they come with fewer problems than other pets.
How do you take care of a pet worm?
Remember worms need to eat material that has decomposed & rotted down. They can't chomp through fresh scraps. and garlic peels, they should make up no more than 2-5% of their daily food intake. animal manures - soaked, with excess water drained off (pig, horse and cow best).
Does touching earthworms hurt them?
Some species can release a stinging substance. Earthworms and red wriggler worms are perfectly safe to hold bare-handed, though it's probably prudent to wash your hands before eating your next meal.
Can you keep garden worms?
For short term. say a week or less, the worms can be kept in the container or bag they have arrived in, they are normally sent out with sufficient bedding for the travelling and to keep for a couple of days.
