Whippets are susceptible to bacterial and viral infections—the same ones that all dogs can get—such as parvo, rabies, and distemper. Many of these infections are preventable through vaccination, which we will recommend based on the diseases we see in our area, herage, and other factors.
What health problems do Whippets cause?
Behavioural issues may arise if the Whippet isn't given enough quality time with humans or is under-exercised. Separation anxiety can occur in the breed if left unattended for extended periods of time. Because Whippets can be startled easily, children should be taught to approach one with care and respect.

He is a relatively healthy dog who enjoys a long lifespan of 12 to 15 years. A responsible breeder should test any Whippet cross for deafness, eye disorders and cardiac diseases in their dogs, so before you decide on a Whippet cross be sure to see the Whippet parents' health certificates for these as a minimum.
