NO! People may believe because worms are usually harmless in humans, that they're probably not too dangerous in dogs either and that they can rid themselves of them, but this is not the case. Dogs cannot get rid of worms themselves.


How long do worms live in dog poop?

Puppies will typically poop worms for 2-3 days after they have been dewormed. However, you may still find some worms in your puppy's excrement up to a week after deworming. This is completely normal and should not alarm you. Worms are a common problem for dogs at any stage of life.

Are worms still alive in dog poop?

After deworming medication is given, you may see worms in your dog's poop, or even in his vomit. This is a normal reaction that is simply removing the (now dead) worms from your dog's body.

Can worms resolve on their own?

Some types of intestinal worms, such as tapeworms, may disappear on their own if you have a strong immune system and healthy diet and lifestyle. However, depending on the type of intestinal worm infection, you may require treatment with an antiparasitic medication.

Can I treat my dog for worms without going to the vet?

There are plenty of natural over-the-counter medications out there. Just be sure to do your research on each one before giving it to your dog. Feeding your dog fermented vegetables is one way to treat worms naturally. A ratio of 1 to 3 teaspoons of fermented vegetables per day per 20 lbs of body weight is recommended.
