Keep coat looking neat by clipping your Schnauzer every 6 weeks. During the winter months, keep your dog's coat a little longer and just trim up areas needing attention. Groom (i.e. brush, trim nails, etc.) and bathe your Schnauzer between full body cuts.
Why do Schnauzers need to be groomed?
Miniature Schnauzer Grooming Needs Because of their double coats and inability to shed properly, Miniature Schnauzers require fairly constant grooming. They need their coats clipped or hand stripped, the latter of which can be a very time-consuming process that is usually reserved for show dogs.
Why are Schnauzers shaved?
As a wire-haired dog, shaving causes a Schnauzer to lose his characteristic coat texture, giving him something closer to a fine, cotton appearance.
