How do birds get worms?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

Vision: Birds, including robins, find worms mostly through sight. Birds have exceptional vision, and their keen eyes can spot the tiny end of a worm as it pokes out of the soil. They can also see small changes in soil and grass as worms move about just below the surface, movements that indicate where a worm is located. 16 февр. 2022 г.

How do robins get worm?

Robins hunt earthworms by alternating between standing motionless and erect for brief periods and making short runs or hops. Once an earthworm is detected, the robin moves closer and crouches, cocks its head presumably to look and/or listen, and then thrusts the bill into the soil to catch the worm.

Do birds poop worms?

Tapeworms found in the stomach and intestines of an infected bird do not show any obvious symptoms. However, tapeworms can be found in the infected bird's droppings, if they are carefully inspected.

Does the worm get something from the bird?

Worms are usually transmitted from bird to bird through the faecal oral route. This is where worm eggs are excreted in droppings and then ingested by birds that scratch and peck at the soil, litter or droppings. Ingestion of infected earthworms, bugs and other secondary hosts can also spread parasitic worms.
