Puppies can also become infected through nursing from an infected mother. Your vet will be able to diagnose roundworms relatively straightforwardly. Cats get roundworms from eating fleas or mice infected with Toxocara eggs. Dogs get roundworms from eating raw meat contaminated with the eggs of this parasite. If your cat eats a mouse infected with these eggs, it can get roundworms and then pass them on to a dog when it scratches or bites the dog.
