How do I get my Border Collie to stop shedding?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

You can't stop a Border collie from shedding. But you can take control of it with a simple routine. Brush your collie out three times a week with a pin brush or slicker brush. Personally I recommend a good slicker brush as it's more effective in removing loose hair and surface level mats. 20 окт. 2016 г.

Why is my Border Collie shedding so much?

The unfortunate answer for most is, yes. They are a long-haired double-coated breed and tend to shed a lot. Twice a year, things can go from bad to worse pretty quickly — in fall and spring, they shed excessively. Many owners describe Border Collie shedding as a full-time maintenance job.

How long does Border Collie shedding last?

Coat blowing usually takes place for about two weeks in spring and fall, but it can be a longer process for some doggos. During this time, their coat may look a little lack-luster and stringy. That's normal and should improve as they grow in their new coat.

What time of year do Border Collies shed?

The Border Collie sheds all year round, but it is during shedding season that you will notice how much he can really shed! Typically, he will lose the winter coat in the spring ready for the hotter summer months, and he will shed his lighter summer coat in the fall, ready for his thicker winter coat.

Do Collies shed a lot of hair?

Rough collies are well known for their beautiful coat. It's large, it's luxurious, and it tends to shed a lot—so be prepared for a bit, or a lot, of fur on your furniture. They're double-coated, so the shedding lasts year-round with an especially impressive uptick when they “blow” their coats in the spring and fall.
