As your dog is barking ask it to 'shush' or 'quiet', then put a super smelly treat right in front of the dog's nose. Most dogs will stop barking to sniff the treat – dogs cannot inhale and bark at the same time. When the dog is quiet, you can praise him and give him the treat.
Why is my greyhound barking at me?
Barking. Generally greyhounds do not bark much but this is not a guarantee. The main thing is to find out what is causing the barking and to address this. Boredom can be a common cause so walking in the morning before you leave the house can help tire your dog so that they are more inclined to rest during the day.
How do you calm a greyhound?
The most important tip of all: Don't use punishment with an anxious dog! Pain and fear will only reinforce the anxiety a dog feels. It's almost always beneficial to help build your Greyhound's confidence. Daily walks offer your dog an excellent opportunity to experience new sights, smells, sounds, animals, and people.
