How do you know if your dog has a sensitive stomach?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

The classic signs of a sensitive stomach include intermittent loose stools or diarrhoea, nausea (you can tell your dog feels sick if they're not eating or if they're licking their lips and swallowing a lot) and excessive wind. There may be blood in the stools and your dog might vomit.

What causes a dog to have a sensitive stomach?

Internal causes for an upset stomach include dietary indiscretion (a fancy way of saying your dog ate something they shouldn't), food allergies, overeating, ulcers, tumors, parasites and intestinal blockages.

What can I give my dog with a sensitive stomach?

A temporary switch to a bland diet may be the best option to help resolve your dog's immediate digestive issues. Boiled, plain chicken and rice are usually well tolerated, and small amounts of canned pumpkin may help resolve diarrhea.
