What do vets use to deworm dogs?

Pyrantel pamoate (brand names Nemex®, Nemex 2®) is an anthelmintic (dewormer). It is used to treat intestinal roundworm, hookworm, and stomach worm parasites in many species including dogs, cats, small mammals, and birds.

What to expect after worming a dog?

After worming your pet, your dog may pass out dead worms and this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Sometimes, they may show some slight movement, such as a flicking motion, but the worms will go on to die.

How long does it take to deworm your dog?

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DEWORM A DOG? It could take as little as two hours for the worm to start dying, and 12 hours after the medication to eradicate all the parasites and worms. Keep in mind that you may still see the worms in your dog for about 1-2 weeks.
