Any Q

Don't be afraid to walk your puppy! It's good to lean on the side of caution and not overdo it with a puppy's exercise. But you should be safe walking your 10 week old Lab puppy for 30 minutes at least once a day, for example. A half-hour is a safe distance for most puppies at 8 weeks, 10 weeks, 16 weeks, etc.

Can you walk a puppy too far?

Be Careful Not to Over-Exercise Your puppy needs exercise, but walking too much can be harmful for growing dogs. Too much exercise, or “forced exercise,” can overtire your puppy and potentially damage developing joints.

How many miles can a puppy walk?

Most dogs will be happy with a walk of one to three miles, but if you have a dog that likes to cover ground, she may end up walking up to 10 miles or more. A puppy shouldn't cover more than a couple of miles until she is grown. Let your puppy set the pace, and concentrate more on time than distance.

Is a 2 hour walk too long for a puppy?

Your Dog's Exercise Tolerance Most dogs can tolerate 20-30 minute dog walks on a daily basis if they have a relatively good body condition. Some dogs in great physical health can tolerate walks up to 2 hours or go hiking for hours at a time.

How do you know if you've walked your puppy too far?

Watch out for signs of fatigue, such as your pet panting, slowing their pace, or lagging behind you or stopping. If you notice this, allow them to rest. Watch for overheating, such as your pet panting excessively, drooling, showing signs of agitation/confusion or vomiting.
