How far is too far walking a dog?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

There's really no limit to how far you walk your dog as long as they're comfortable. For some dogs, that's around the block. For others, it's ten miles. Just remember to build distance and stamina gradually over time.

Can a dog be walked too far?

If they are not used to more than a 10-minute walk or playtime, suddenly expecting more than an hour of activity can set them up for injury and medical problems. If they're over-extended, they may be resistant to exercise or develop mobility issues, anxiety, and exhaustion/lethargy.

Can a dog walk 3 miles?

Most dogs will be happy with a walk of one to three miles, but if you have a dog that likes to cover ground, she may end up walking up to 10 miles or more. A puppy shouldn't cover more than a couple of miles until she is grown. Let your puppy set the pace, and concentrate more on time than distance.

Is 2 miles a long walk for a dog?

The average adult dog benefits from at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, which can be broken up into two or three walks. Harper, now 10 1/2 , still enjoys a 2-mile walk or several short walks daily. It's good for her health and mine, and best of all, it makes both of us happy.
