The Saluki is a typical sighthound in that he thinks for himself, steals food whenever and wherever it's available, chases and kills cats, squirrels, goats, and other animals at every opportunity, and can jump anything less than a six-foot fence.

The ideal running area for a Saluki is 300 to 400 feet in length or width. Fences should be at least five to six feet high or a Saluki will easily jump them.
Is the Saluki the fastest dog?
While the Greyhound is credited as being the fastest dog breed up to distances of around 800 metres (2,600 ft), the Saluki is thought to be faster over longer distances. In 1996, The Guinness Book of Records listed a Saluki as being the fastest dog, capable of reaching a speed of 68.8 km/h (42.8 mph).
Do Salukis like to cuddle?
They will sleep on your bed and sofa and they love to cuddle up to you. Salukis can be picky eaters, but also greedy so make sure that you don't leave anything on the kitchen worktops.
Are Salukis good dogs?
Salukis are quiet at home, extremely gentle with children, and good with other dogs. They make adequate watchdogs, but miserable protection dogs. Salukis must get a chance to run, and run hard, every day. Given this chance, they are moderately obedient, as long as they happen to want the same thing you want.
