【Expert answer】
Any Q

Often, you will see the white, rice-like pieces throughout your dog's feces or in the hair around her bottom. If the worm dies and dries out before or after being passed, the segments turn yellow and hard. If the tapeworm segments end up in your dog's stomach, she will throw up and you may see a worm in her vomit.

Can dogs throw up tapeworms?

If those tapeworm segments make their way inside your dog's stomach, they can, though rarely, make your dog throw up. Then you may actually see a worm (maybe 5 to 8 inches long) in your dog's vomit. If your dog has a heavy tapeworm infection, they may lose weight, even though they are eating normally.

What do worms look like in dog throw up?

The dog may cough if the roundworms move into the lungs. You may notice the adult roundworms in your dog's feces or vomit. They will appear white or light brown in color and may be several inches long.

How can you tell if a dog has tapeworms?

Clinical diagnosis is usually made by observing the white, mobile tapeworm segments in the feces or crawling around the anus. These segments look like grains of white rice or cucumber seeds. Occasionally segments are seen crawling around the dog's anus.

Did my dog just throw up worms?

When a dog has roundworms, the owner might see one or more of the worms in the dog's vomit or stools. Needless to say, it can be quite alarming (and disgusting) to see these large, pale-colored, spaghetti-like worms—sometimes still moving.
