Is it OK not to walk your dog everyday?

Most dogs love them and they can be a wonderful part of our day. That being said, it is not necessary to take a walk every single day. Many dog caretakers feel like they are failing their dogs if they skip a daily walk. In fact, it is usually nothing to worry about, and sometimes it's exactly what your dog needs!

Is it OK to not walk your dog for a week?

Of course, it's not always possible to walk your dog for hours at a time every day, and that's OK. But if you can't do it that often, you should be doing it at least a few times a week — and if you can't commit to walking your dog even once a week, then you might want to reconsider getting one as a pet.

What happens if you don't walk your dog for a day?

Too much can result in digestive issues, a suppressed immune system, skin issues and pancreatitis, amongst other things. Behaviourally, the more cortisol there is in the dog's system, the more likely they are to be nervous and reactive. It becomes a vicious circle.

Is it OK to miss walking my dog?

You're not failing as a pet owner if you miss a walk — just be sure your dog is getting the attention and exercise he needs on a regular basis. As a veterinarian, I hear from lots of people who worry that they're not being good dog owners if they don't do certain things or don't do them frequently enough.
