It's recommended that you worm your dog at least every three months. If your vet recommends monthly worming this may be because your dog is a hunter or scavenger, or lives with children. Why should I deworm my dog?


How long does a deworming treatment last?

After six months, it is recommended that you continue deworming your dog every three months. Since parasites can be transmitted from mother to puppy, always ensure that you deworm the mother as well.

How long does it take to get rid of worms after deworming?

It can take as little as two hours for the worms to start dying off. However, in most cases, the process starts about 12 hours after administering the dewormer. You may continue to see worms in your pup's poop for about a week. If they had a serious infestation, you may see worms for up to two weeks.

How long does a dewormer take to work?

Most dewormers will fall in line with those mentioned in this article, requiring an initial period of only 2-3 weeks to eliminate worms; however, some treatments will also require a second dosage to eradicate the second wave of parasites.
