How many times a day should I walk my 6 month old puppy?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

When they're six months old, you'll be walking 30 minutes a day. As for how frequently to walk your puppy, the short answer is: as often as they need to go outside! Your puppy will be going to the toilet a lot, so it's a good idea to schedule six to eight outings per day.

How long should you walk a 6 month old puppy?

A good rule of thumb is a ratio of five minutes exercise per month of age (up to twice a day) until the puppy is fully grown e.g. 15 minutes (up to twice a day) when 3 months old, 20 minutes when 4 months old and so on. Once they are fully grown, they can go out for much longer.

How much exercise does a 6 month old puppy need?

Older puppies will require more exercise. A six-month-old dog might be capable of taking longer walks or even short jogs (if your vet helps you determine he's in good overall health and up for it), for example, but long hikes over rough terrain or strenuous agility classes are still potentially dangerous.

What is a good schedule for a 6 month old puppy?

Between the ages of 2 to 6 months old, puppies are normally fed 3 to 4 times a day. During the adolescent stage, however, most dogs can drop down to 2 meals a day. Some large breeds aren't fully mature until 18 to 24 months old, so they may still need to be fed 3 or 4 times a day.

Can you over exercise a 6 month old puppy?

Avoid over-exercising your puppy. Over-exercising puppies can negatively impact on their musculoskeletal development and this is of particular concern in large and giant breed puppies. Some of the large and giant dog breeds can continue to grow up until 18–24 months of age.
