Dobermanns need a minimum of two hours of exercise every day to help burn off their large amounts of energy. We'd recommend spreading your dog's exercise across the day rather than trying to do two hours in one go. This should include a couple of walks with time to run off-lead in a secure area.
Are Dobermans a lot of work?
Dobermans are happiest when they have a job to do. They make excellent police and military dogs, and they do well with canine sports. Because Dobermans love to work alongside people so much, they are often prone to separation anxiety. The separation anxiety can get even worse when the dog does not get enough activity.
Can Dobermans be lazy?
Dobermans are known for their energy, but puppies need between sixteen and twenty hours of sleep. While sleeping this much often makes it seem like a puppy is overly lethargic or lazy, it's actually completely normal. Make sure to rule out depression or medical conditions as a cause.
How many miles should a Doberman run a day?
Dobermans make fantastic running dogs. Muscular, fast, and full energy, the need for vigorous daily exercise means these dogs can join you on several runs per week ranging from sprints (they travel up 32-35 mph) to short jogs (up to 3 miles) to long steady runs up to 5 miles.
How long can Dobermans be left alone?
