How much exercise should a Lurcher puppy have?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

How much exercise does a Lurcher need? Lurchers require at least two walks a day, and need the option to stretch their legs out for at least one of their walks. Given they have a strong prey drive, many owners opt to keep their Lurchers on the lead when out and about.

How much exercise does a Lurcher puppy need?

For most Lurchers, you should aim for at least 40 minutes of exercise per day. Whilst this goal may seem low, it's all thanks to their sighthound heritage. Contrary to popular belief, sighthounds don't need tons of exercise. In fact, they love to lounge around all day, making them low maintenance pets.

How do I know if I'm over exercising my puppy?

Watch out for signs of fatigue, such as your pet panting, slowing their pace, or lagging behind you or stopping. If you notice this, allow them to rest. Watch for overheating, such as your pet panting excessively, drooling, showing signs of agitation/confusion or vomiting.

Can Lurchers be lazy?

Contrary to what people usually think, Greyhounds and Lurchers are often couch potatoes and need very little exercise. They like nothing more than to cosy up on a comfy bed and snooze in a warm home, being quite lazy at heart.

Do Lurcher puppies sleep a lot?

For every hour my lurcher is on his feet, he will spend three hours sleeping it off. They are adorable! From their bright glossy eyes, their pricked up ears, and their big goofy noses to their long, swishy waggy tails, lurchers are hard not to fall head over heels with once you get to know one personally.
