We feed our dogs 1 litre of biscuits & approx.1 tin of meat per dog, per day. In a home situation this is usually split over 2 meals one in the morning & one in the evening. Greyhounds have sensitive digestive systems so changes in food should be done gradually.
How much food should a greyhound eat a day?
A good combination is high quality kibble (approx. 2 cups) and fresh human-grade meat (approx. 500g) halved to provide 2 meals per day. Alternatively, 250g of chicken necks, wings and frames could be given for breakfast with 11/ – 2 cups of kibble and 250g of meat for dinner.
How much should you feed your greyhound?
Greyhounds should eat between 250-300 grams of meat per day, depending upon the size of the dog. This meat should be supplemented with vegetables (see list of good and bad vegetables), fish oil and some dry food. How much should a 30kg greyhound eat?
A 30kg greyhound would need approximately 1kg of Nature's Menu a day in two separate feedings. Feeding amounts may vary with the individual dog. If your dog is losing weight, increase the amount fed and if he/she is getting too fat, either increase the level of exercise or reduce the quantity that you are feeding.
Should greyhounds eat twice a day?
In general, dogs should be fed twice a day. Breed, age, size, and energy level all factor into how often dogs should eat and how much. Fresh dog food is an increasingly popular alternative to dry kibble or wet canned food.
