Common worms are readily controllable with a routine worming treatment for puppies. They should be wormed every two weeks until twelve weeks of age, then monthly until six months of age.After six months all dogs need to be wormed every three months for effective protection. How often should I give my dog dewormer?
It is recommend to deworm your dogs once monthly. Most dewormers for dogs are very safe and do not have much impact on the system other than to do their job and make sure the dog doesn't have worms.
Do dogs need monthly deworming?
Every time you give a deworming pill you get rid of any adult worms that are living in the intestines. If there is a large number, you may see them pass in the stool (they look like a pile of spaghetti). Currently, we recommend monthly deworming for all dogs in the summer months.
How do you know when a dog needs deworming?
If you see worms in the stool – it is common to be able to see worms or fragments of worms in the stool. This is the most obvious sign that your pet needs a dewormer, many worms look like spaghetti or rice. If you see worms or pieces of worms in the fur – particularly around the back end, or the tail of your pet.
