They should be wormed every two weeks until twelve weeks of age, then monthly until six months of age. After six months all dogs need to be wormed every three months for effective protection.
Do indoor dogs need deworming?
Currently, we recommend monthly deworming for all dogs in the summer months. If we have milder winters or if you have very young children, we may recommend deworming monthly all year round. There are several other types of parasitic worms as well (hookworms, whipworms). This is where the fecal test can be useful.
Is deworming necessary for dogs every month?
As a matter of fact, puppies and young dogs should be dewormed when they reach their 21-30 days of age. This means they should be dewormed at least once every month until they're three months old. After that, they can be dewormed once in every two months until they are 6 months old.
