Like dogs on chains, caged birds crave freedom and companionship, not the cruel reality of forced solitary confinement for the rest of their very long lives. Driven mad from boredom and loneliness, caged birds often become aggressive and self-destructive.
Why you should not pet a bird?
Petting down the back or under the wings can lead to a sexually frustrated bird, or a bird who perceives you as his mate rather than a companion. A mated bonded bird can be hostile to others in your home, as he becomes jealous or possessive of you.
Are pet birds unhappy?
Normal parrots, depending on their species, make loud noise. However, a sudden increase in screaming and screeching may indicate that a bird is stressed, unhappy, or bored. Just as biting can be indicative of pain or discomfort, so can screaming.
Is it cruel to put bird in cage?
They are cruel and inhumane -– since birds are meant to fly. The cages are often completely barren, devoid of any objects, toys, or enrichment for birds to climb on, play with, and behave normally. Isolating birds in these small cages is stressful for them, as they are social, smart and playful animals.
