The Deworming Process after a Few Days You may be surprised to still see live worms in your dog's feces after deworming them, but this is normal. While this can be an unpleasant image, it's actually a good thing — it means the worms are no longer living inside your dog!


How long after worming dog are worms expelled?

It can take as little as two hours for the worms to start dying off. However, in most cases, the process starts about 12 hours after administering the dewormer. You may continue to see worms in your pup's poop for about a week. If they had a serious infestation, you may see worms for up to two weeks.

How do you know if dewormer is working?

Deworming products are considered effective if they reduce fecal egg counts (FEC) by at least 95%. Products with less than 95% effectiveness are considered to have resistance issues. Products with less than 60% effectiveness are considered to have severe resistance issues.

What to expect after worming a dog?

After worming your pet, your dog may pass out dead worms and this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Sometimes, they may show some slight movement, such as a flicking motion, but the worms will go on to die.

After deworming medication is given, you may see worms in your dog's poop, or even in his vomit. This is a normal reaction that is simply removing the (now dead) worms from your dog's body.
