Worms can obstruct the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which can cause vomiting and/or diarrhea. If your dog vomited worms, there is a possibility that there is a heavy intestinal worm infestation. It's highly recommended that you take your dog to your vet at the soonest possible time for proper diagnosis and treatment.
What causes a dog to puke worms?
Your pup can get roundworms if they eat roundworm eggs that come from another animal's poop, or if they eat mice or other small animals that are infected. A puppy can even get roundworms by sniffing another dog's poop.

It takes approximately four weeks for roundworms to be treated with dewormer. The infective larvae and eggs can survive in your dog for a long time time and are particularly resistant to changes in conditions in the body.
What does dog vomit with worms look like?
The dog may cough if the roundworms move into the lungs. You may notice the adult roundworms in your dog's feces or vomit. They will appear white or light brown in color and may be several inches long.
