The safest plastic containers for food are numbers 1, 2, 4, & 5. These are generally BPA-free storage containers & are safer for food. Products with numbers 3, 6, & especially 7 most often contain BPA. Plastic labeled #7 and/ or bearing the mark “PC” are polycarbonates.
