Don't feed your dog in the kitchen. Dry pet food, treats, and supplements can be prone to contamination with Salmonella, which can make both pets and people sick. Avoiding feeding your dog in the kitchen will lessen your chances of becoming ill from germs found in pet food.
Why dogs should not be in the kitchen?
They are often sick and are on various medications as well, so I do not want them in my kitchen. There are other concerns one may have as well such as ticks, fleas, heartworm, bordetella (kennel cough), and other bacteria and/or illnesses that are simply not appropriate to bring into the kitchen.
Should dogs have access to food all day?
You can feed your dog one or two times a day. It's best to do it twice daily at 8-12 hour intervals. If you're doing it this way, split the suggested amount found on the bag or you'll feed it double what it needs.
Should you feed your dog from your plate?
Don't feed them from the table or your plate: Instead, give your dog a bite of healthy human food the same way you'd give them any other dog treat — as a reward for obedience or for being a good dog. And avoid giving them a treat when they're begging.
Where is the best place to feed your puppy?
Dogs can be very messy eaters, spilling food all around the floor and even on the walls, so make sure there's nothing near your dog's eating area that can be damaged. We recommend putting his food bowl near his water bowl, which should always be there, cleaned often and filled with fresh water.
