At mealtimes, feed your bulldog in the crate with the door closed. At night, just before bedtime take your bulldog puppy out to potty. When he eliminates give him lots of praise, tell them “Good Potty” (or whatever phrase you decide to use) and a treat.
Should I feed my dog inside his crate?
Do not leave food or water in the crate unless you are crating your dog for two hours or more, or advised to do so by a vet. But you can feed them their main meal in the crate, removing the bowl after meal time. Cover your dog's crate because most dogs prefer it, it helps them relax, and provides a more secure feeling.

With that being said you should LIMIT the amount of time that your bulldog spends in their crate. We like to use the 4-hour rule at our house for an adult bulldog and the 2 hour limit for our puppies.

Train your English bulldog to go inside the crate on command, using a verbal command such as "Crate." Lure the dog into the crate with treats, and reward the dog for entering the crate. You may also want your English bulldog to sleep in the crate and not on your bed, because these dogs are notorious snorers.
