There is no real right or wrong answer. Just like humans, dogs are different. Some may feel more comfortable in a crate next to your bed, while others prefer to sleep on a blanket in the living room.
Should I put my puppy crate in another room?
By giving your dog her own little den, you encourage her to stop going to the bathroom in the house because of her natural inclination not to soil her living space. Puppies should be encouraged to sleep in their crates at night. However, your puppy should not sleep in another room in her crate.
Should I keep my puppy confined to one room?
When your dog is first being expected to hold it throughout the day, don't let him roam freely throughout the house. Instead, start with very brief absences and keep him confined to one room that is as dog-proofed as possible.
Should I keep my puppy in the same room as me?
Some people are happy to have their dog sleep in their bedroom. For others, it's important that their dog sleep in another room. We recommend at least having them in your bedroom with you in the beginning in either a dog bed or crate. Having your puppy in your bedroom with you will make them feel more reassured.
What room should you put your dog's crate in?
A corner of the family room, or in the kitchen are ideal places. Wherever you do decide to place the crate, make sure it isn't in a drafty area, isn't close to a heat source such as a radiator or fireplace, or in direct sunlight. It needs to be comfortable with little chance of getting too hot or too cold.
