You should de-flea and worm your pet once a month. Not only will this prevent them from experiencing the side effects of either condition, but it'll allow your pet to be completely protected and free from suffering.
How often should you worm and flea your dog?
This depends on which product you use. We have flea spot-on treatments for dogs and cats that can be applied monthly or tablets that last for one month for cats and 1-3 months for dogs. Worming tablets can be given every three months for adult dogs and cats.
Can I worm and flea my dog at the same time?
If Frontline is used, then worming is advised every 1-3 months. This is because Frontline is not effective against any worms. We also advise not to give multiple treatments at the same time. You should leave 2 weeks between administering spot-on treatment (e.g. Advocate) and a worming tablet (e.g. Milbemax).
Should I flea and worm?
Because fleas can carry worms, your indoor cat should be wormed as well. It's better to be safe than sorry, and both flea and worm treatment is easy and safe, whereas elimination of parasites once they have taken hold can be more complicated. A regular flea and worm treatment regime will keep your cat - and you!
Is deworming a dog necessary?
Worms are nasty parasites that can cause chronic gastrointestinal problems. This is why it is important to deworm your dog regularly. This contributes to your dog's health. Puppies that are not dewormed may get ill and suffer from growth retardation.
