The SIU Edwardsville Cougars are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), located in Edwardsville, Illinois, United States. The Cougars' athletic program is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and competes at the NCAA Division I level.

When did SIUE go d1?

Though the transition period lasted five years after the Cougars officially petitioned for Division I status in June of 2007, the process took a total of seven years, started by former SIUE chancellor Dr. Vaughn Vandergrift.
