【Expert answer】
Any Q

Is There a Cure for Leptospirosis? Leptospirosis can be cured with antibiotics, if recognized and treated in the very early stages of illness. However, even with treatment, over 80% of dogs develop serious, short term kidney problems and some cases of leptospirosis can be fatal.

Can dogs recover from leptospirosis?

Leptospirosis is generally treated with antibiotics and supportive care. When treated early and aggressively, the chances for recovery are good but there is still a risk of permanent residual kidney or liver damage. Currently available vaccines effectively prevent leptospirosis and protect dogs for at least 12 months.

Is leptospirosis always fatal?

In most cases, leptospirosis is unpleasant but not life-threatening, like a case of the flu. It rarely lasts more than a week. But about 10% of the time, when you have a severe form of leptospirosis, you'll get better, but then get sick again.

Can leptospirosis go away?

The illness lasts from a few days to 3 weeks or longer. Without treatment, recovery may take several months.
