PetSmart gets its animals from a range of sources, from breeding mills to animal rescue shelters. Petco and PetSmart have long been under fire for their live-animal sales. A PETA investigation into PetSmart stores revealed animal neglect and led PetSmart store managers in Nashville, Tennessee, to plead guilty to cruelty-to-animals charges.
Why you shouldn't buy from PetSmart?
The issue with these pet stores is that they can lead you to impulse buy a pet, employees can give you the wrong care information about the pet you are buying, and worst yet, many people suspect them to abuse their animals. I can't think of anything more fun than going to a pet store.
Does Petco abuse their animals?
Between January and July 2019, 12 Petco stores were hit with more than 80 violations of the state's Pet Animal Care Facilities Act, including for neglect, filth, and poor recordkeeping.
